Moorfield House care home is a grade II listed building that was a small country house built before 1822 on the outskirts of leeds. It was later converted into a 48 bed care home known as Moorfield House. In 2019, the care home hit local headlines after it was discovered that the manager of the care home, Alison Bulmer, had been using frail residents bank cards to buy designer clothes and garden furniture for herself. She also tried to siphon thousands of pounds from the care home by forging invoices sent from bogus companies. Judge Neil Clark gave her a 16-month sentence, suspended for 24 months and 100 hours of unpaid work. The care home closed its doors for good in 2021, and was listed for sale with a guide price of £1,500,000.
In 2023, West Yorkshire Police executed a drugs warrant at the abandoned care home and discovered a large, sophisticated cannabis farm with around £500,000. Six Albanian nationals were arrested at the property.
And in may 2024 the six men appeared at leeds crown court and were convicted and sent to prison
