Eumir Marcial hopes to meet Filipinos' expectations in SEA Games
Olympic boxer Eumir Marcial feels the weight of national expectation as he fights for pride and flag in the 2025 Southeast Asian Games — while this is a good burden, he cannot deny the fact, and he’s fully aware that Filipinos have high hopes for him to finish gold. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Marcial racked up four golds in the biennial multi-sport event since his campaign in 2015. He begged off in the 2023 meet as he suffered from a left shoulder injury. In his highly anticipated return to the Southeast Asian boxing stage, Marcial has evident jitters whenever he is asked about his return.
