DOST textile research institute unveils new facility to boost yarn production in Ilocos Norte
Science Research Specialist Ronald Pechera of the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) showcases the agency's new facility responsible for yarn production. The DOST, in partnership with the local government of Vintar, Ilocos Norte, opened the first Regional Yarn Production and Innovation Center in the North on Nov. 20, 2025. The facility is expected to produce up to 150 kilos of cotton yarn a day, boosting a product made by local handloom weavers in the region.
