地球から遙か四十数光年先のイプザーロン恒星系にある人類の植民惑星クレアドが、異星人の軍隊に突如攻撃され壊滅状態となる。生き残った難民と軍人は、衛星軌道上の宇宙ステーションへ逃れるも追撃を受け続け、練習宇宙艦ジェイナスで隣接の植民惑星ベルウィックへ逃れ潜伏。その間にも次第に生存者が減り、現地の軍事基地も壊滅。再度宇宙へ脱出する頃には、大人が一人になっていた。子供たちは異星人脱獄者との遭遇で得た情報から、異星人側の軍の捕虜となった家族を救出するため、ジェイナスおよび人型兵器ラウンドバーニアンで異星人の軍隊と戦いながら、敵軍の基地衛星および母星を目指す。しかし、ついに最後の大人も交戦中に撃墜され行方不明となる。13人の少年少女の旅路は、徐々に熾烈をきわめてゆく。

The human colony planet Creado, located in the Ipsaron star system over forty light-years from Earth, was suddenly attacked and devastated by an alien military force. Surviving refugees and military personnel fled to a space station in satellite orbit but faced relentless pursuit. They escaped aboard the training starship Janus to the neighboring colony planet Belwick, where they went into hiding. During this time, survivors dwindled steadily, and the local military base was also destroyed. By the time they attempted another escape into space, only one adult remained. Using information gained from encounters with escaped alien prisoners, the children set out to rescue their families held captive by the alien military. Fighting the alien forces with the Janus and the humanoid weapon Round Burnians, they aim for the enemy's base satellite and homeworld. However, the last adult is shot down during combat and goes missing. The journey of the thirteen boys and girls grows increasingly fierce.
