Canterbury Bankstown city council has ordered the shutdown of a prayer hall run by Sydney Islamic preacher Wissam Haddad. A council spokesperson says the centre known as Al Madina Dawah Centre has been issued with a notice to comply. Through a lawyer earlier this week Mr Haddad said he "vehemently denied any knowledge of or involvement in the shootings that took place at Bondi Beach".
