Manila Police District Spokesperson Major Philip Ines speaks to reporters during an interview on the Tondo firecracker incident, saying the two 12-year-old victims reportedly picked up the fireworks from the street.

Police said a piccolo firecracker was ignited, triggering a larger firecracker that was being held by the deceased child. The injured minor remains under treatment at Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, while the deceased victim is undergoing an autopsy.

Authorities said possible liability is being determined should the person who left the fireworks be identified, as police continue their campaign against illegal firecrackers. (via Diann Calucin | MB)
