Images and descriptions released this week indicate that the People’s Liberation Army Rocket Force employs mobile intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launchers disguised as civilian cranes manufactured by Zoomlion.
The material highlights launch platforms associated with the Dongfeng missile family, designed for road mobility and concealment.
According to the information released, the vehicles externally resemble large mobile cranes, with body shapes, coverings, and markings similar to those of heavy construction equipment.
The purpose of the disguise is to mask the military nature of the systems during movement and periods of parking, complicating visual identification at a distance and making them harder to distinguish amid civilian traffic and industrial environments.
