Duenas vice mayor's death due to accidental gunfire, says Remulla
The death of Dueñas Vice Mayor Aimee Paz Lamasan was caused by accidental gunfire, Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla says on Jan. 7, 2026 , ruling out suicide or homicide. Remulla also criticized the Iloilo City Police Office for lapses in handling the case, including initiating the investigation 36 hours after the incident. Lamasan suffered a self-inflicted gunshot in her right abdomen on Dec. 30, 2025 and died the next day while being treated at the hospital.
