Beneath the southern oceans lies an entire sunken world.
Scientists have discovered that the Kerguelen Plateau is not just a massive volcanic plain but the remains of an ancient continent that disappeared about 20 million years ago. Once, it had forests, rivers, and possibly life. Now, it’s nothing but the cold waters of the Indian Ocean.
But this isn’t the only lost world. The second one, Zealandia, is almost completely swallowed by the Pacific Ocean. Scientists still debate whether it should be considered a true continent.
Both of these hidden lands are a reminder that beneath the ocean floor, entire forgotten worlds may still be waiting to be rediscovered. Animation is created by Bright Side.
