An urban explorer has exposed the decaying interior of a once-grand palace that housed nobility and later became a movie set.
The footage was captured by Matt Nadin, a full-time creator from Yorkshire, UK, during an exploration of Bożków Palace in Poland, a grand estate steeped in European history.
Bożków Palace dates back to the 16th century and was later transformed into an opulent residence for Prussian and Silesian nobility, most notably the von Magnis
family, who owned and expanded the palace during its golden era.
Bożków Palace has also attracted modern attention, having served as a filming location for the television series “Ze Network,” starring David Hasselhoff.
At its height, the palace hosted lavish balls and gatherings attended by influential figures from across Central Europe.
Inside, Matt found vast ballrooms, ornate staircases, and faded decorative details still clinging to their former grandeur.
Despite its current condition, according to Matt, the palace is estimated to be worth well over £2–3 million if fully restored.
Items from the production, including the helmet worn by Hasselhoff, can still be seen inside the palace.
Matt, who has spent nearly nine years documenting abandoned locations across Europe, says the experience was both breathtaking and heartbreaking.
Matt Nadin said:“Bożków Palace has an almost mythical reputation among urban explorers. Its scale, its dramatic decline, and its aristocratic past made it impossible to ignore.
“Inside, there were beautiful ballrooms, crumbling staircases, and rooms that still hinted at their former grandeur.
" Walking through it felt like stepping back in time.
“David Hasselhoff filmed in this palace a few years ago on a TV program called Ze Network.
"The helmet he wore can still be seen in my footage inside the palace.
“Finding massive parts of the building collapsed in on themselves is just heartbreaking.
“It’s a mix of amazement and sadness, amazement at what still remains, and sadness that such an important historic building has been left to decay.
“Exploring places like this isn’t about thrill-seeking. It’s about storytelling and preservation.
"Once these buildings are gone, their stories disappear with them.”
Matt shares his top 5 tips for any inspiring explorer:
"1. Always tell people exactly where you’re going and when you expect to be back.
"2. Avoid exploring alone wherever possible, safety should always come first, I’ve been exploring for almost 9 years and even I have accidents
"3. Remember that even abandoned places were once someone’s home; treat them with respect.
"4. Never put yourself in unnecessary danger for the sake of a photo or video.
"5. If a situation feels too risky, walk away and leave it to professionals.”
