Part 9: Several predictive / future references / easter eggs may appear in 1966 animated TV special How The Grinch Stole Christmas. These connect, apparently, to actor Jim Carrey, who played the character in the year 2000 adaptation of the 1957 Dr. Seuss children's story. Facets of his future films & characters several decades into the future may be interwoven into the story.
- Romantic Comedy Yes Man (2008) was unusual in the number of "real world" pop culture references shown.
- Carrey & Zooey Deschanel dress up / cosplay as Harry Potter characters at one point, scenes from the films are screened at a party they attend.
- CLIFF - I thought the name of Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe may be hinted at in "The Grinch" who lives in a cave high up on a mountain top and walks to a cliff's edge to peer down upon Whoville.
- The special's major climax & turning point involves a scene with a mountain peak.
- A combination audio / visual reference to Harry Potter may be seen at 18 minutes when the Grinch bags a toy / model train set out of one house.
I thought may be a reference to the Hogwarts Express, the famous train that carries the characters between London and the fantasy wizardry school.
- To the word "HOGWARTS": there may be some language that alludes to sores or blemishes in the song "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" that plays over his exploits going house to house.
(apologies for the graphic description) One phrase in the song goes:
You're a rotter, Mr. Grinch.
You're the king of sinful sots!
Your heart's a dead tomato splotched
With moldy purple spots, Mr. Grinch.
