Explosions struck a Russian ammunition depot near Neya on Jan. 5–6, 2026, amid near-daily long-range drone strikes reported by both sides.
Ukrainian officials attributed the strike on Arsenal No. 100 in Kostroma Oblast to the Security Service of Ukraine’s Alpha Special Operations Center.
The Alpha-led operation also reportedly hit the Gerkon Plus oil depot in Lipetsk Oblast, and FP-1 drones with 1,400–1,600 km range were cited.
Satellite images showed four impact points after drones breached air defenses, and authorities opened shelter for up to 1,200 people with evacuations nearby.
Russia’s Defense Ministry first said 129 drones were downed overnight Jan. 5–6, later revising the 24-hour figure to 360.
Officials called Arsenal No. 100 the deepest GRAU depot hit, 900 km from Ukraine.
