Palace denies President using power to silence critics
Malacañang on Jan. 27, 2026 denies that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is using his power to silence government critics. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro issued the statement after Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste claimed that the Philippines was under a 'de facto Martial Law,' where critics reportedly feel intimidated or selectively prosecuted.
