Chairman of House Commission VII Saleh Partaonan Daulay reprimanded Tourism Minister (Menpar) Widiyanti Putri Wardhana during a working meeting of the commission on Wednesday (21/1). Saleh criticized Widiyanti for rarely providing updates on the Tourism Ministry's activities and for more frequently attending ceremonial events.

"From what we've seen so far, you often travel alone; we don't know what you're doing regarding tourism in this republic. From now on, please inform us. At least come here yourself, if necessary, using your own travel funds," said Saleh during the meeting.

Additionally, Saleh highlighted that the Tourism Ministry was perceived as failing to report several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with other ministries to Commission VII. He emphasized that while MoUs are important, they must be followed by concrete results.

"MoUs are good, but there must be tangible outcomes. Don't just sign them," he stressed.

Saleh also questioned the benefits of the numerous awards received by the Tourism Ministry. He further criticized the report on foreign tourist visits, which he deemed not up-to-date.

"We are already in January. This means we can no longer use data from November; it should be through December. But the report still only goes up to November. This indicates that no one is monitoring this properly," said Saleh.
