Food aid for stranded travelers
The Department of Social Welfare and Development on Friday said it has prepared ready-to-eat food boxes for stranded passengers in ports, terminals, and evacuation centers as tropical storm Basyang makes landfall. Speaking at the Kapihan ng Samahang Plaridel held in Manila, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said the aid is given to travelers who are unable to return home due to canceled trips and closed transport routes. The food boxes are sufficient for up to two days. Gatchalian said that 3.5 million family food boxes were prepositioned across the country for relief operations.
