On Sunday, February 8, Portugal will hold the second round of its presidential elections, the first runoff in 40 years. More than 11 million citizens are called to the polls after no candidate surpassed the 50 percent threshold required to win in the first round. Former Socialist Party minister António José Seguro and far‑right Chega party leader André Ventura were the two most‑voted candidates among the 11 contenders, and will now face each other in the decisive vote.
