A 20-year-old woman who went missing from Lalitpur on February 13, 2026, has surfaced in a viral video claiming she married her partner of her own free will and accusing her family and police of harassment.
The woman, identifying herself as Himanshi, said she married Rahul Yadav voluntarily. “I am 20 years old. I got married of my own free will. If anything happens to me, my family, the police and my relatives will be responsible,” she said in the video. She also alleged that police were threatening her in-laws with false cases and harassing her pregnant mother-in-law and her husband’s friends.
The incident falls under the Kotwali Sadar police station limits. According to police, the woman went missing from her home around 9 pm on February 13. Her father lodged a missing person complaint at Kotwali police station, following which a case was registered and a search operation initiated.
The video surfaced on February 18 and has since circulated widely on social media. In the clip, the woman further alleged harassment by the police and warned if she and her husband were troubled.
In a statement, Lalitpur Police said that a case has been registered under relevant sections based on the complaint and that investigation is underway. The Circle Officer (Sadar) has been directed to probe the allegations and take necessary action.
Police said further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing inquiry.
