Jason Bateman says he got sober from alcohol and cocaine to ease tension in his marriage to Amanda Anka. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published February 18, Bateman, 57, said they had "negotiations" about when the "partying" would stop. He said Anka didn't demand it, but he decided ending it sooner would "alleviate a lot of the tension." Bateman joked he's "California sober," a slang term for someone who only uses marijuana.
