PH arrests wanted foreign fugitive
An international fugitive and his companion are presented at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) headquarters on Feb. 27, 2026, for booking and arrest procedures after they were taken into custody the night before. Operatives from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Bureau of Immigration (BI) apprehended South Korean fugitive Lee Jingyu alongside a male companion, In Jaesang, at a fast-food restaurant in Parañaque City. Lee, who was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice for drug smuggling and had a prior criminal conviction for aggravated assault, had previously escaped from the BI Warden’s Facility on Jan. 1, 2026, with another national named Yang Heejun. Lee reportedly resisted violently during the evening arrest, resulting in minor injuries to NBI agents. Yang was recaptured on Jan. 14. Lee remained at large until he and In were intercepted arriving in a ride-hailing vehicle and both men were taken into custody after authorities recovered a small bag of Ketamine, suspected drug money, and a mobile phone from the scene.
