For the past six days, Taiwan has recorded no nearby incursions by Chinese military aircraft. It follows a record low for February.
The People’s Liberation Army adoption of a new joint operation training model and the recent purge of high-ranking officials are possible reasons, says Tristan Tang, a nonresident fellow at the Pacific Forum.
“By 2027, they need to have a basic capability on the joint operation, but they have not finished the joint operation training reform that start since 2020,” added Tang.
