El Shalom — Frost 1976 (Germany, Krautrock, Heavy Progressive Rock)
The only album from the band from Rheinhausen (Baden-Württemberg). During their first five years together, the guys went a long way from a small-town amateur band to seasoned musicians with defined goals and means. Stylistically, the band grew by leaps and bounds: rhythm and blues standards gave way to intricate rock constructions rooted in the classical heritage of the past. Incidentally, El Shalom owes its symphonic refinements to organist Joachim Brands, a trained organist. He was the last to join the band, but it was his keyboard textures that significantly enriched the palette, allowing the band to advance to a new level. The musicians sing in both English and German on the album, lending the music a certain charm and piquancy. The music is completely non-aggressive, with the exception of some sections featuring lead flute and saxophone. The guitarist excels in the instrumental sections, delivering excellent Camel-style solos. The keyboards are primarily synthesizers.
