Smash — Glorieta De Los Lotos 1970 (Spain, Psychedelic Rock)
Smash formed in Seville in 1969 and soon revolutionized the local rock scene, paving the way for Spanish rock bands like Gong, Galaxia, and Triana. The Spanish musicians' debut album is a vibrant combination of psychedelia, blues, and country.in the song "Rock & Roll" (the last track on the album), a male voice is clearly heard saying in Greek: "Come to the microphone, Julio".
This voice is addressed to Julio Matito, the singer and bassist of the band.
How did this line get there?
Although there is no official record in the credits of who the Greek is, the story behind it is connected to the international company that Smash had in Seville and Madrid:Smash's debut album is a kinda raw sounding mix of hard rock, psychedelia and blues rock. Some early prog rock influences can be heard now and then but those are pretty limited indeed. The opener "Forever Walking" might be my personal favourite but there are other nice moments as well.
