The Government has launched a new Steel Strategy, with up to 50% of steel used in the UK to be made in Britain. From July, overall quota levels for steel imports will be reduced by 60% compared with current arrangements. On a visit to Tata Steel in Port Talbot, Trade Secretary Peter Kyle announced a 30% boost in production. Along with MP for Cardiff East, Jo Stevens, and First Minister of Wales Eluned Morgan, he met steelworkers and visited the expanding site.
