Surrogacy is a pathway that often comes with many legal obstacles and very high costs. With the Australian Law Reform Commission currently reviewing surrogacy laws, the ABC’s Compass program has been looking into the practice. They've met with couples turning to surrogacy to start their families and also looked into why some women call the pathway empowering while others warn it's exploitative.
