पश्चिम एशिया में जारी युद्ध को तीन सप्ताह से अधिक समय हो चुका है, जिससे वैश्विक स्तर पर गंभीर ऊर्जा संकट उत्पन्न हो गया है। राज्यसभा में प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने कहा कि इस संघर्ष का असर भारत पर भी स्पष्ट रूप से पड़ा है। युद्ध के कारण प्रमुख व्यापारिक मार्ग प्रभावित हुए हैं, जिससे पेट्रोल, डीजल, गैस और उर्वरकों की आपूर्ति बाधित हुई है। उन्होंने इसे देश के लिए चिंताजनक स्थिति बताया।
प्रधानमंत्री ने यह भी बताया कि खाड़ी देशों में करीब एक करोड़ भारतीय काम करते हैं, इसलिए उनकी सुरक्षा और आजीविका सुनिश्चित करना सरकार की प्राथमिकता है। अब तक तीन लाख से अधिक भारतीयों को सुरक्षित वापस लाया जा चुका है, हालांकि कुछ लोगों की जान भी गई है। मोदी ने कहा कि भारत स्थिति पर लगातार नजर बनाए हुए है और अमेरिका, इजराइल तथा ईरान तीनों देशों के संपर्क में रहकर समाधान की दिशा में प्रयास कर रहा है।
