This dramatic footage shows the historic Vondelkerk church silhouetted against the night sky, its spire fully engulfed in a massive blaze.
The fire broke out in the early hours of New Year’s Day, just after the city’s celebrations hit their peak. Allison, who recorded the scene from a safe distance, captured the moment the intense flames tore through the roof of the 154-year-old neo-Gothic masterpiece.
While the cause is still under investigation, the fire coincided with a night of intense pyrotechnics across the city, leading to the evacuation of roughly 90 nearby homes.
