NASA is gearing up for an unprecedented return to deep space with the Artemis II mission. Four astronauts — Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen — are entering the last stage of their training prior to embarking on their journey around the Moon.

They will launch aboard the Orion spacecraft using the powerful Space Launch System rocket, embarking on a 10-day voyage that will orbit the Moon and then bring them back to Earth. This mission aims to evaluate essential systems such as life support, navigation, communications, and the heat shield of Orion.

Artemis II will also set significant records. Victor Glover will make history as the first Black astronaut to approach the Moon, while Christina Koch will be the first woman to achieve this milestone. Additionally, Jeremy Hansen will be the first astronaut from outside the U.S. to venture beyond low Earth orbit.

After over two years of rigorous training, the crew is poised to bring humanity one step closer to a return to the lunar surface.
