In a shocking incident from Dakshina Kannada district, two school students—both sisters—were injured after falling from a moving KSRTC bus while on their way to write their Class 10 board examinations.
The accident occurred near Reshme Road in Kaliya village of Beltangady taluk near Mangaluru. The siblings had boarded the bus at Gerukatte while travelling from Puttur to Dharmasthala.
According to reports, the bus was carrying around 86 passengers, forcing the girls to stand near the door due to lack of space. As the bus approached a curve, the door allegedly flung open suddenly, causing the elder sister to lose balance and fall onto the road. The younger sister, who tried to hold on, was also pulled down.
Eyewitnesses and CCTV footage show the sequence of events, highlighting how both girls were thrown out of the moving vehicle within seconds.
Both students sustained injuries and were immediately shifted to a nearby private hospital for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.
The incident has raised serious concerns over passenger safety and overcrowding in public transport. The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is expected to initiate an investigation into the matter.
