Russia has launched a massive rolling aerial assault on Ukraine, according to Ukrainian officials. The attacks began Thursday evening and continued into Friday, with more than 400 long-range drones and 10 ballistic missiles fired within just 24 hours.
Ukraine’s air force says Moscow is now experimenting with new tactics, including launching large overnight drone waves followed by heavy daytime strikes. Officials believe the goal is to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defenses and keep cities under constant pressure.
This is the second time in a week Russia has used this strategy. A similar attack earlier in the week involved more than 300 drones overnight followed by another wave during the day.
The bombardments have caused major disruption across Ukraine. During the attacks, government institutions, public transport, and many businesses are forced to shut down for safety.
In the eastern Kharkiv region, authorities reported that one person was killed and at least 25 others were injured after missiles, bombs, and drones struck the area over the past 24 hours.
As Russia continues to upgrade its drones and adjust its attack routes, Ukrainian officials warn that aerial warfare in the conflict is becoming more intense and unpredictable.
