But the slashing of the fuel excise has been bringing some much-needed help at the petrol bowser this easter long weekend. Unleaded has fallen for its third straight day, on Friday the average price across the country was $2.29 a litre. Diesel has started to creep back up and on Friday averaging $3.08 a litre but still below its record high from Tuesday. Despite the relief many families were staying closer to home tightened their budgets with fuel front of mind.
