President Lai Pays Tribute to Democracy Activist Cheng Nan-jung

President Lai Ching-te has paid tribute to self-immolated democracy advocate and Freedom Era Weekly magazine founder Cheng Nan-jung, who self-immolated as police tried to arrest him for sedition after Taiwan had already lifted martial law.
