Palauan President Surangel Whipps Jr. said in an interview with AFP that China has been "very outspoken" in saying Palau needs to denounce Taiwan. Palau is one of Taiwan's 12 remaining diplomatic allies. In response, Taiwan's foreign ministry criticized China for its actions.
