Italy has suspended (paused) the automatic renewal of its defence cooperation agreement with Israel
This agreement included military cooperation, such as:
exchange of military technology
training of personnel
joint research and defence industry collaboration

The decision is linked to rising tensions over Israel’s military actions, especially in Lebanon.
Italy has recently criticised Israeli attacks on civilians and incidents involving Italian peacekeepers.
🔹 Important context
The defence deal was originally approved years ago and renews automatically every 5 years.
Italy had been one of Israel’s closest European allies, so this move shows a policy shift.
