Marcos rolls out rice aid program in Manila
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on April 16, 2026 leads the rollout of the rice aid initiative in Manila as part the government's efforts to provide immediate relief to families affected by the ongoing economic pressures driven by the war in the Middle East. The President was joined by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno during the rice distribution program at SM Manila. Each beneficiary will receive 10 kilograms of rice under the program named 'Biyayang Bigas sa Maynila.' The initiative is funded through the Local Government Support Fund, with P286 million allocated for its implementation in the city.
