An easter egg to Konami video game series Castlevania may be seen in 1992 horror / comedy Highway To Hell. The item can be seen, in-part, via actor Patrick Bergin, who appeared in Tom Clancy spy thriller Patriot Games with Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones). I thought it interesting that both Indy & Simon Belmont's characters use whips.
- Ke Huy Quan played sidekick, Short Round in Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom in 1984. He was later in Spielberg's The Goonies (1985).
- Konami developed a sequel adventure game for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) & Famicom, The Goonies II, in 1987.
- I previously did a video, mentioning the predictive clues in "Highway" to Bergin possibly working with Ford, he can be seen wearing a brown fedora style hat similar to Harrison Ford's character in the Indiana Jones films.
- At around the 1 hour, 3 minute mark Charlie (Chad Lowe) stands on a cliff's edge & looks across a river canyon to a great city where his kidnapped girlfriend had been taken. To get there, he must convince the Ferryman Charon to take him down the River Styx in his boat. A three headed dog Cerberus guards the port.
- There are some elements from Greek mythology here, The River Styx was known as the boundry to Hades & the afterlife in legend. The hero Hercules made the journey in one story.
- A ferryman is also shown in Castlevania II in 1987, who must take the hero across a treacherous body of water.
- Another connection to vampires in Highway To Hell: Actress Kristy Swanson later played Buffy The Vampire Slayer in the 1992 movie.
- Connections can be seen to Greek myths in Castlevania, gorgon Medusa is the boss of block 2.
