Tensions between Iran and the United States once again came into focus after Iranian state media claimed that a serious confrontation took place on April 11 in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. According to the reports, a tense encounter occurred between two U.S. Navy warships and Iranian forces in one of the world’s most sensitive maritime zones.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) allegedly locked 16 cruise missiles onto the U.S. vessels and issued a warning for them to immediately leave the area. It was further claimed that the American ships initially did not comply with instructions, escalating the situation. Later, during an incident that reportedly lasted nearly an hour, the U.S. warships are said to have requested a 15-minute delay before eventually withdrawing from the region.
However, there has been no independent verification of these claims, and they remain based solely on Iranian state media reports. If true, the incident would mark one of the most serious naval confrontations between the two countries in recent years.
