Jethro needs a health certificate for school and accidentally visits Mrs. Drysdale's psychiatrist, Dr. Eugene Twombly. The psychiatrist struggles to analyze Jethro, and later Pearl Bodine, leading to misunderstandings, including Pearl thinking her virtue is threatened when asked to lie on his couch.
