Leave without pay, or lose your job – decision day for smelter workers

The Tasmanian government has given the commonwealth its proposal to jointly fund the wages of liberty bell bay smelter workers, until the facility is sold. More than 200 workers face being laid off on Friday, unless they choose to take unpaid leave.
