Marcos still not inclined to rejoin ICC — Palace
The Philippines will not rejoin the International Criminal Court (ICC) as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s stance on the matter remains unchanged, Malacañang said on April 23, 2026. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro issued the statement after the ICC Appeals Chamber upheld its jurisdiction over former president Rodrigo Duterte. The Palace official also maintained that the Philippine government's actions were independent of the ICC ruling. Castro also pushed back against remarks by Duterte’s defense lawyer Nicholas Kaufman, who questioned the Marcos administration’s position on ICC jurisdiction.
