War or no war, Ir@n is coming to the World Cup.
FIFA boss Gianni Infantino made it official: "Ir@n is Coming for Sure".
Speaking at a CNBC economic conference, Infantino added, "We hope that by then the situation will be peaceful".
Ir@n will play three Group G matches on American soil — two in Los Angeles, one in Seattle. Their tournament base? Tucson, Arizona. The 48-team World Cup kicks off June 11 across the US, Canada, and Mexico.
The confirmation wasn't easy. President Trump had questioned whether Ir-ni-n players would be "Safe" in the US. Ir@n threatened a boycott and asked FIFA to move its matches to Mexico. FIFA said no.
