DOH pushes child immunization drive in Metro Manila

The Department of Health-Metro Manila Center for Health Development urged parents to have their children vaccinated against preventable diseases as it marked World Immunization Week. During its kickoff event in San Juan City on Monday, the DOH launched an immunization drive targeting 240 individuals, covering measles, polio, pertussis, pneumonia, human papillomavirus for grade 4 female students, and tetanus-diphtheria shots for pregnant women. DOH-MMCHD Regional Director Lester Tan told The Manila Times that only about 80 percent of children in Metro Manila were fully immunized last year, still below the World Health Organization’s target of 95 percent coverage.
