पश्चिम बंगाल विधानसभा चुनाव 2026 के दूसरे चरण में भवानीपुर सीट पर भारी बवाल देखने को मिला। बीजेपी उम्मीदवार और नेता प्रतिपक्ष शुभेंदु अधिकारी ने आरोप लगाया है कि जब वह जोयनगर के एक मतदान केंद्र का दौरा करने पहुंचे, तो टीएमसी कार्यकर्ताओं ने उन्हें घेर लिया और उन पर हमला करने की कोशिश की। इस दौरान जमकर नारेबाजी हुई और स्थिति इतनी तनावपूर्ण हो गई कि केंद्रीय सुरक्षा बलों (CAPF) को भीड़ को तितर-बितर करने के लिए लाठीचार्ज का सहारा लेना पड़ा। दूसरी ओर, ममता बनर्जी ने पलटवार करते हुए बीजेपी पर केंद्रीय बलों के जरिए चुनाव में धांधली करने का आरोप लगाया है। ममता का कहना है कि उनके कार्यकर्ताओं को डराया-धमकाया जा रहा है। भवानीपुर की इस हाई-प्रोफाइल जंग ने पूरे बंगाल का सियासी पारा चढ़ा दिया है।
