A Boston man and his 2-year-old goldendoodle named Benny are lucky to be alive after the dog ran into the Charles River and was followed by his owner. The incident occurred on Monday, April 20, the day of the 2026 Boston Marathon. Local real estate agent Hans Nagrath told CBS News that his dog, Benny, was off his leash during their run along the river when the dog sprinted into the water to chase two geese. Nagrath repeatedly called after Benny, but said the dog most likely couldn't hear him because he didn't turn around once.
