Allion, a peasant boy turned Princess Shallot’s servant, observes three Scallion princes fail the Royal Quests because their perfect ramen dishes are judged “empty.” As war with the Garlic Kingdom looms, Allion discovers he was planted by the kitchen itself to be the Last Ingredient, a sacrifice that must choose its fate and remain itself until the end. He voluntarily has himself sliced and fried into black oil at 160°F while narrating his life. When the chef drizzles the oil over the Master Ramen, the dish is finally complete, and everyone who tastes it remembers Allion without knowing what was added. The quest ends, but on Earth, botanist Mei-Sensei wakes from the dream at 3:17 AM craving the same ramen, holding a 400-year-old scroll titled For When The Dish Is Empty, as the hunger begins to spread.
