A relieved Liberal party has claimed victory in the hotly contested Nepean byelection fending off strong challenges from the local independent and a surging One Nation. It took less than three hours for the seat to be called for the Liberals but a collapse in the party's primary vote has left the opposition leader conceding there are lessons to be learned.
