Intl media center opens in Lapu-Lapu City ahead of 48th Asean Summit
The International Media Center (IMC) opens at the Mactan Newtown in Lapu-Lapu City on May 5, 2026 ahead of the 48th Asean Summit 2026, serving as the main hub for local and international press coverage of the regional gathering. The facility is expected to cater to around a thousand local and foreign media, providing workspace, connectivity, and support services for live coverage of summit-related events. A press briefing was held with Presidential Communications Office Acting Secretary Dave Gomez and Asean 2026 National Organizing Council Director-General for Operations Ma. Hellen De La Vega, who provided updates on preparations and media arrangements for the summit. They were joined by Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro and Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Cindi King-Chan.
