In a disturbing incident highlighting alleged negligence, a stray bull died of electrocution near Malviya Nagar Gurudwara in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda on Sunday morning at around 8:21 am.
The incident occurred within the Gonda city police station area after a broken electric wire reportedly caused current to pass through a nearby pole. The entire incident was captured on the Gurudwara’s CCTV camera.
Footage shows several stray animals near a gate, when one bull attempted to pass beside a parked vehicle close to the electric pole. As it came in contact with the electrified area, it was instantly electrocuted and died on the spot.
Local residents immediately alerted the electricity department and managed to get the power supply Disconnected. Later, a JCB machine was called to remove the carcass, and the animal’s last rites were performed by locals.
Residents alleged that they had been raising complaints with the electricity department since January 19, 2026, regarding damaged wires and dilapidated electric poles in the area, but no action was taken.
Demanding accountability, locals have called for immediate removal of hazardous wires and poles, along with strict action against negligent officials.
A local resident, KB Singh, said, “A stray animal died due to electrocution this morning. Monkeys often damage wires here. We had complained earlier, but no one acted. The wire was hanging low, which led to this incident.”
Attempts to contact electricity department officials for a response were unsuccessful, as calls to their official numbers went unanswered.
