Mick makes his way to No.4 but finds no one within. He overhears the factory staff saying the Joanie is still there with Sally. Tim spots Mick going into the factory and follows him in as he takes Sarah hostage. Unseen, Sally and Joanie try to escape through the back, but the security shutters are down, and they have no option but to go up to the roof where Sally has to reassure the girl to stay calm. Mick is happy for a showdown to take place when he walks into the factory. Kit tries to talk Mick into giving himself up but from the police chatter overheard outside the building he realises Joanie is on the roof. A fight breaks out between him and Kit, after which Mick makes his way upwards with Kit in pursuit. Another fight occurs on the balcony which ends in Mick stabbing Kit after he taunts him that the DNA test proves that Brody is not his son. Sally bravely stands between Mick and Joanie with a metal pipe. Sally tries to talk sense to Mick, making him see how he is scaring his daughter who deserves a better chance in life than he can give her. She promises to look after both girls. Mick expresses his regrets to Joanie and gives himself up.
