In the early 2000s, the Avanti Motor Corporation (organized behind the construction of vehicles based on the 1960s Studebaker Avanti sport coupe) envisioned entrance into the luxury sport utility vehicle market. The Avanti Studebaker XUV presented a tempting combination of American-themed muscle, luxury and capacity in a large off-roading-oriented package. Despite initial momentum, the Studebaker XUV's story never left the advanced concept stages.
