An FIR has been registered against Trinamool Congress (TMC) National General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee at the Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police Station in West Bengal. The complaint, filed by social activist Rajib Sarkar, alleges that the TMC leader delivered provocative and inflammatory speeches during the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election campaign. The complaint further states that these speeches, delivered between April 27 and May 3, aimed to disturb public tranquillity and included direct threats to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This marks the first time the state police have registered an FIR against Mamata Banerjee's nephew and the political heir of the TMC.
